Discover PT based Pilates

Pilates based PT considers all parts of the body and listens to how they harmonize with one another while in motion. From there, we can then learn to re-discover patterns of movement, which minimize stress to joints and produce the greatest strength and power.
What does ‘core’ mean?
Stability means that our bone structure is in optimal alignment, thus creating equilibrium amongst the surrounding musculature. To achieve this harmony, we must work from the inside-out.
When you think of the ‘core’, think of an apple core which starts at the crown of the head and extends to the tailbone through an ‘inner tube’ surrounding the spine. These groups of muscles that hug up against the spine comprise our core body. When activated, they create a solid foundation from which the outer, more dynamic muscles can produce strength. When our muscles are engaged from the inside-out, we produce efficient movement patterns which are balanced, thus reducing stress at our joints.
How can Pilates improve my performance?
Pilates combines muscular contractions which lengthen the muscle and shorten the muscle. This combination allows the muscles to develop strength and endurance throughout the entire structure. We call this ACTIVE LENGTHENING.
This type of training reduces strain on the muscle fibers while producing movements that require speed and power. Furthermore, it reduces the amount of friction created at joint surfaces by balancing out muscles around each joint.
