The Pilates method was first developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century as a physical fitness regime designated to be a form of corrective exercise. The goal for Pilates’ work was to combine the mental and physical realms of health to help strengthen the human mind and body.
Today’s contemporary approach to Pilates seeks to develop controlled movements from a strong core by using various exercises to guide and train the body.
